Dynamic DNS with Namecheap
Dynamic DNS (or DDNS in short) is a system that allows you to create a hostname that points to your dynamic IP address or static IP address provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Do you want to have your own Dynamic DNS hostname with your own domain name? You can have it now with out any extra charges with any domain name you register thru Namecheap.
You can only use the Namecheap free Dynamic DNS service for the domain names that uses Namecheap nameservers. Let’s start.
1. Login to your account.

2. Click on Manage Domains.

3. Click on the domain name you want to setup Dynamic DNS.

4. Click on the Dynamic DNS menu on the left.

5. Choose ‘Enable Dynamic DNS for this domain. Once enabled, information for DNS client will be provided.’ radio button and click ‘Save Changes’ to proceed.

6. The resulting page will give you the required information to use in your Dynamic DNS client.

Finally, you are all set to use Dynamic DNS. I will post another topic on using the Dynamic DNS Client with Namecheap later, ![]()
