WordPress 2.8.3 is released today and this fixes the privilege escalation issues for 2.8.1 which they missed. Thanks to the several folks in the WordPress community for digging deeper and discovering this which they overlooked and this remaining issues are now fixed in 2.8.3 version. This upgrade is highly recommended since this is related to a security release. So, do upgrade your WordPress now to avoid any exploitation.

Not even a month, the WordPress 2.8.1 is released on July 9, 2009 and it fixes many bugs and tightens security for plugin administration pages. It is advisable to upgrade to 2.8.1 as the admin pages added by certain plugins could be viewed by unprivileged users, resulting in information being leaked but not all plugins are vulnerable to this problem.
Nevertheless, you can view all changes since 2.8 to understand fixes. So, do upgrade your WordPress to WordPress 2.8.1 to avoid any information leaked out.

The latest and newest version of WordPress 2.8 “Baker” has just released. The notable features in WordPress 2.8 is the improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies, and overall speed. WordPress has fixed a reported 790 bugs in this version. You can watch the WordPress 2.8 quick video overview.
Nevertheless, it is time for me to download and upgrade my blog. Finger cross on my upgrade and happy upgrading to WordPress 2.8 to all.
