How To Setup Maxis Home Fiber Using Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD and Thomson Gateway TG784n

I wanted to share with you this Maxis Home Fiber setup using Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD and Thomson Gateway TG784n. You would be surprise why Thomson Gateway TG784n. Let me explain further. Since this Maxis Home Fiber is running on TM infrastructure and you want to have the phone (SIP/VoIP) feature then Thomson Gateway TG784n will be remain here (you need to disable the wireless interface yourself). Following below are the devices involved in this setup: –

1) Huawei HG850a
2) Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD
3) Thomson Gateway TG784n
4) Aztech DECT Cordless Phone E310-S

Follow the connection above and connect your desktop/notebook to either ETH2, ETH3 or ETH4 of Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD. Login to your Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD using Winbox, click on “Interfaces” on the left menu then click on “VLAN” tab. Now click the “+” sign to add new VLAN vlan621 and modify the values in the Name, VLAN ID and Interface fields as below for Internet (VLAN 621): –

Next, lets proceed using the same step as above to add vlan822 and gwvlan822 for SIP/VoIP (VLAN 822) like below: –

Then, click on “Bridge” on the left menu then in Bridge tab, click on “+” sign to add new bridge name bridge-voip: –

Now, you need to tag vlan822 and gwvlan822 interfaces to bridge-voip like below: –

This setup will allocate Ethernet port 5 for VLAN 822. Click on “Interfaces” on the left menu then double click on “ether5-local” interface and modify like below: –

Next, create the VLAN capable PPPoE client (remember Maxis Home Fiber running on TM infrastructure uses VLAN 621 for Internet and VLAN 822 for SIP/VoIP) clicking on “Interfaces” on the left menu then click the “+” sign to add new PPPoE Client like below: –

With all the interfaces setup above, you will have them like below: –

Next, adding 3rd party DNS resolver. Click on “IP” on the left menu then click on “DNS”. Now click on “Settings” button and modify like below: –

Now, modify existing DHCP server configuration by clicking “IP” on the left menu then click on “DHCP Server” and modify like below: –

Lastly, lets proceed to configure Internet masquerading or sharing by clicking “IP” on the left menu then click on “Firewall”. Click on “NAT” tab and click the “+” sign to add new rule (without this you can’t do web browsing) like below: –

Finally, with all the configuration above I hope you are able to use and enjoy your Maxis Home Fiber (please note you need to configure the wireless interface of Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD yourself). Thank you.
