Installing VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0.0

This post will cover an installation guide for VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0.0 only. The VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0.0 is completely free. Download the installation VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0.0 ISO from VMware website and get a free license.

Let’s start. Power up your server and insert the VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0.0 installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installation process starts automatically. You will see the screen as below.

Next, you will see the Loading ESXi installer screen as below.

Then, you will see the Welcome to the VMware ESXi 5.0.0 Installation screen as below. Hit the Enter button to proceed.

Next, you will see the End User License Agreement (EULA) screen as below. Press F11 button to accept the license and continue.

You will then see the next screen Select a Disk to Install or Upgrade as below telling you that which disk to install. Select your preferred disk and press Enter button to proceed.

Next, select Install ESXi, overwrite VMFS datastore to install ESXi.

You need to select a keyboard layout, in my case US Default and press Enter button to proceed.

The Confirm Install screen is displayed below. Press F11 button to proceed.

Enter your preferred root password and press Enter button to proceed.

The Installing ESXi 5.0.0 has started and 34% in progressing.

Next, you will see the Installation Complete screen as below. ESXi 5.0.0 has been successfully installed and you can press the Enter button to reboot the server.

The Rebooting Server screen is displayed below. Let’s prepare for the new VMware ESXi 5.0.0.

Finally, the VMware ESXi 5.0.0 successfully rebooted as below.

    I am just starting to learn about ESXi and it may be silly question but I am wondering how you could take those screen shots without a client…

    Tool, enterprise server has remote console manage capabilities. I am capturing these screen shots from the remote console manage via a web browser.
