HP and Toshiba Recalling 100k Sony-made Batteries

Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Toshiba are recalling 100k Sony-made batteries due to posibilities of overheat or catch fire. The recall decision made after 40 instances of overheating including four cases where users had minor burns reported by Sony.
This will affect roughly 74,000 HP laptops, 14,400 Toshiba laptops and small numbers of batteries made for Acer, Dell and Lenovo due to batteries made by a production line problem between October 2004 and June 2005. A total of 35,000 batteries will be recalled in the US and 65,000 batteries will be from other parts of the world.
As you can recall, Sony did announced a recall of 440k of its Vaio laptops worldwide due to concerns about overheating. Again, are you one of the victim of this issue? Please check with your local vendor regarding this issue.
