VLC media player 0.9.2 (Grishenko) is a cross-platform media player and media server for various audio and video formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. This 0.9.2 version includes a new interface for Linux and Windows. You can read a full list of new features here. In this post, I also include the 0.8.6 version interface as below for a comparison to the new 0.9.2 version above.

It has been my favorite media player either in Linux or Windows platform. I am able to play large number of multimedia formats, without the need for installing additional codecs into my system. However, I am able to use VLC as a streaming server. You should give it a try.

VLC is great, but I cannot get 0.9.2 to play MMS streams. Therefore, I must stick with 0.8.6 on Ubuntu.
By the way, I found your blog while looking for Tux stickers. I’m glad that I found it, please update often. Thanks!
